You can find many puzzle enthusiasts throughout the
world. They are accustomed to a variety of puzzles. In the competitions, they
also use a number of puzzles like, Rex Cube, Curvy copter and a few others.
But, hardly will you find that people are using Mixup cube.
What's the reason? Probably, it's an old model. But, I don't think that it's
outdated.
May be it's a big one in size and looks a little
bit ugly, but you will miss the solving part, that is more interesting. In
fact, you will learn that how the principles are contradictory in this puzzle
in relation to the normal Rubik's cube.
The history:
Now, I want to discuss the history because, it will
create a better idea in your mind regarding the existence of the puzzle. In
1974, it was created by Ernő Rubik. But, now, more than 350 million people are
playing this puzzle. In the primary stage, the colors like white, red, blue,
orange, green, and yellow were used. Till now, this process is continuing. But,
the popularity has gone down to some extent. The idea behind making such color
combination was to solve the puzzle by twisting the movable sections. And
finally, each color will be in their starting position color. Looks easy, but
it's not like that. The complete task is quite difficult to solve.
About Principles:
You can have a look at any cube and just mark that
the cube is designed with corners, centers and edges. The center is fixed and
can't be moved. But in case of mixup, you will find that the edges along with
centers can be exchanged. Here, some of the normal cube solving techniques may
not work. Some of the reference points also may not work.
What are the Cubes Available?
There is 3x3 Mixup cube and some other familiar
cubes like, 3x3 Mixup plus, 4x4, 3x3x4
mixup plus and 4x4x3 mixup. So these are different models available for the
cubers.
However, this puzzle looks like a Rubik's cube, but
needs different principles. If you are getting bored with your Rubik's cube,
try this one. Really, interesting.
